The stone used in this home was hardcourt granite from Castlemaine. It was blasted out of the quarry creating random sizes from 100ml to 500ml rock spalls. We then cut and chisel every single piece of stone to fit into place to make a random pattern. Very much like a jigsaw puzzle with no picture to follow. The two rock columns are going to house a huge fish tank in between them, separating the kitchen/lounge room and the dining room. The fireplace also done in the harcourt granite, is a great feature in the dining area, it continues down the hallway for a more solid look and feel. At the front of the house the client chose to have the same stone as a feature wall to break up the rendered finish around the rest of the home. Feature walls are a fantastic way to add character to a home.
