Located at Austin Winery, this Bluestone Bridge was pureky built out of Bluestone pitchers.
Creating a border around the two big concrete pipes then laying the pitchers in a stretcher bond. We then used 100ml thick polished bluestone, for the capping.
While constructing this bridge, one day about lunchtime the rain started to fall very heavily, we stayed out of the rain for about 30mins. After about 30min of extremely heavy rain, the rain started coming off the surrounding hills and all of a sudden within 15 minutes we were total flooded. The water had reached the top of those concrete pipes and our concrete mixer/wheelbarrows were submerged. It took 3 days for the water to dissipate.
