Tocumwal House on the Murray

Tocumwal House on the Murray

Location: Tocumwal, NSW
Builder: Colan Curtis
Service: New Construction
Stone Type: Harcourt Granite from Castlemaine

This large-scale new construction build took place on the New South Wales banks of the Murray River. We used Harcourt Granite from Castlemaine to build feature walls, a staircase facade and two fireplaces.

We laid the granite in a random dry stack method with a 5-7mm mortar joint around the joint to prevent any creepy crawlies from making the gaps home. This method was used on both exterior and interior.

Each dry stack feature is essentially its own massive 3D jigsaw puzzle. We worked with hammers, chisels and grinders until each stone fit into their own perfect spot.

Due to the intricate design nature of each dry stack this job took 8 months to complete. We were proud of our 3 fireplaces and many outdoor feature walls.
