This project in Linfield, Sydney, was a remarkable multi-residential development consisting of 10 apartments and 8 studios. We were involved at a later stage in the build, as Dilcara had taken over the project from another builder. With this change in the project’s timeline, we were given a very tight schedule to meet, requiring our team to mobilize quickly and efficiently.
The stone selected for this project was the high-quality Mount Gambier Limestone, sourced from Bruhn Limestone. The limestone was cut into precise dimensions of 660 x 290 x 50mm, and it was installed using a mechanically fixed system called Stoneclip, ensuring the stones were securely attached to the concrete block substrate.
Given the short timeline and the complexity of the project, we mobilized a full team of 10-12 skilled stonemasons at one time. This allowed us to meet the builder’s scheduling needs and deliver on time to the client. The work was both demanding and time-sensitive, but the collaborative effort of our team ensured the project progressed smoothly and to the highest standards.
Stone Wall Installation & Columns:
The stone walls were constructed using 50mm thick Mount Gambier Limestone, which was mechanically fixed to a concrete block substrate. The system we used, Stoneclip, ensured that the stonework was both secure and aesthetically pleasing. A key feature of this project were the half-round columns, which were meticulously carved onsite by our stonemasons using solid stone blocks. These columns became a striking architectural feature of the development, contributing to its overall elegant look.
Mortar and Finish:
To enhance the quality of the stonework, we used a high-quality cement/lime mortar to tuckpoint the bed joints, ensuring a clean, strong bond between the stones. Once the stone installation was complete, we took extra care with the finishing touches. Each limestone piece was hand-sanded to achieve a beautiful, marble-like texture, removing any inconsistencies in the stone’s surface and giving the walls a smooth, refined finish. This final process highlighted the natural beauty of the Mount Gambier Limestone and brought a sense of sophistication to the project.
Collaboration with Dilcara:
It was a pleasure working with Dilcara, a highly professional builder who played an essential role in ensuring the project was completed on time. Their team worked collaboratively with ours, providing the necessary support and coordination to help us meet the project’s tight deadlines. The result is a multi-residential development that stands as a testament to high-quality craftsmanship, dedication, and teamwork.
